Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana(KVPY) – Department of science and technology of India has launched a scheme in 1999 to help the aspirants of the medical stream. The scheme aims to provide all the basic facilities and help the students so that they can continue their studies without any tribulation. Here we are going to provide all the necessary details about this KVPY scheme and procedure for application submission.

  • All the medical stream aspirants related to fields like Zoology, Botany, BSC of any stream, Human Biology, Physics, and many others can apply for KVPY.
  • Online application for 2022 was started from 6th September till 5th October.
  • The aptitude test is scheduled on 31st January 2021.          
  • The scheme falls under the central government category.

Two Categories of KVPY:

  1. For all the medical aspirants studying in 1st year to 3rd year will get a monthly fellowship advantage of 5000 and ACG (Annual Contingency Grant) of 20,000 INR.
  2. All the medical aspirants studying in the 4th year or 5th year will get a monthly fellowship advantage of 7000 and ACG (Annual Contingency Grant) of 28,000 INR.

Eligibility Criteria to Apply:

  • 10th pass students with aggregate 75% marks in both maths and science can apply but fellowship will be provided after admission in course after 12th standard with 60%.
  • Students in the 12th standard from the science stream can apply. But they must have secure 75% in 10th standard in maths and science aggregately.
  • Students in the science stream and 1st year can apply if they have secured 60% in 12th board.
  • Any student from category: SC/ST/OBC or PWD can apply.

Documents needed:

Caste certificate of the applicant with an academic certificate as per the eligibility. One has to submit the scanned copy through an online platform.

Application and Selection Procedure:

After applying one aptitude test will be conducted. Based on the test, aspirants will be selected for the fellowship.

Application Procedure for KVPY:

  1. Visit the official website: http://www.kvpy.iisc.ernet.in
  2. At the home page, there is an option naming “application” following to “registration” button.
  3. Enter all the basic details like name, age, email, and click on the register button.
  4. Then upload the scanned copy of your documents with one photo and scanned digital signature.
  5. Check the application form twice and then submit.

Test Details for KVPY selection:

It will be a computer-based test of 3 hours. Here multiple-choice questions will be provided that students can answer either in English or Hindi. One needs to complete two sections of the test where in first section 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong question and 0.50 in the second part.

EXAMINATION TIME:

STREAM SA: Forenoon  9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (Candidates should report at 8:30 AM)
STREAM SB/SX: Afternoon 2 PM to 5 PM (Candidates should report at 1 PM)

How can I prepare for the KVPY exam?

One must check the exam pattern first. Then buy the books according and make a study plan. Always keep some time for revision twice before the exam. One must give some online mock tests before the exam date to know the preparation and progress report.

How can I get previous year question papers with answers?

You can get it from the official website easily. On the home page in the bottom lines, you can get all the question papers and answers from 2009 to 2022.

How to check the results of the test?

Again, the results will be uploaded on the official site. Under section “provisional list of KVPY Fellowship award.” One has to select its stream to check the results through a PDF file.

What is the syllabus for the aptitude test?

There is no prescribed syllabus for the aptitude test. The aptitude test aims to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student than his/her factual knowledge. However, students are tested for the syllabus up to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable.

What are the eligibility criteria for KVPY 2022?

(a) Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2020-21 and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination.

Students promoted through both the Summative Assessments-II conducted by the school and conducted by the Board are eligible to apply, if they satisfy eligibility criteria. If the students have obtained a letter grade in the qualified examination, they are requested to convert it into an appropriate % marks and fill-up the application form.

(b) Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII standard / (+2) during the academic year 2020-21 and aspiring to join an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) for the session 2021-22 provided they have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination. They must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII standard Board Examination before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

(c) Stream SB: Students enrolled in the 1st Year of an undergraduate program in sciences (B.Sc./B.S./ B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) during the academic year 2020-21 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII/ (+2) Standard Board Examination.  In the 1st year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./M.S. they must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

Can I avail the KVPY Fellowship along with a merit scholarship?

KVPY does not allow its Fellows to receive simultaneously fellowship /scholarship from more than one source, either government or private. In case they are in receipt of any other fellowship or scholarship, they will have to relinquish it in order to avail the KVPY Fellowship.

When can I get the application form?

The KVPY is publishing its detailed advertisement on 2nd Sunday of the month of July every year. The application form can be obtained after the publication of the advt.

When should I submit application form?

The last date for submission of the application form will be notified in the detailed advertisement published during July every year.

I have a scanned copy of my photograph/signature/caste certificate, the file size of which exceeds the limit mentioned in the online application form.  What should I do?

Please compress the file and then upload it.

When and how do I download ADMIT CARD?

Candidates may download ADMIT CARD during 2nd week of January 2022 by logging in to their application portal at KVPY website. Details regarding Examination venue and seat number will be available in the admit card.
